Changelog and roadmap.

What we did and what we're doing. Planned items are intentions, not promises.

Shipped

  1. Right panel in the CapCut layout

    • The Properties panel is split into Video / Audio / Speed / Animation / Adjust tabs with sub-tabs (Basic, Remove background, Mask, Retouch; Voice changer; Standard, Curve; HSL, Curves, Color wheels). Every section has a fold arrow, reset and keyframe button; speed gets a duration box.
  2. Tracks open as you need them

    • A new project shows only the main video track; empty tracks take no room, and a track that empties goes away by itself.
    • Drag a clip or a media card above, below or between the tracks: a new track opens, and a drop line shows where it goes. Undone in one step.
    • “Add track” shows an empty track; if you put nothing in it, it is hidden again after you save.
  3. Video and its sound as one clip

    • A video's own sound shows inside the clip on the timeline, as a thin waveform strip under the picture, instead of taking a separate audio track. Click the strip for the sound settings.
    • Right click → “Separate audio”: the sound moves down to its own track, undone in one step. Music and voice-over stay on their own tracks as always.
    • Clip titles show the name and length, and the progress of a job running on the file (e.g. “Enhancing picture quality… 73%”).
    • The right-click menu is grouped like CapCut: shortcuts on the right, what cannot apply right now is grey.
    • The right-click menu gained Cut (Ctrl+X), Copy properties (Ctrl+Shift+C) and Paste properties (Ctrl+Alt+V): effects, colour, opacity and transform move to other clips in one step.
    • Fix: deleting part of a linked clip and closing the gap now moves picture and sound together, so they stay in sync.
  4. Closing the window returns to the start screen

    • With a project open, the window's X button no longer quits the app: after the unsaved-changes question it returns to the start screen. On the start screen, X closes the app.
  5. Describe it to Wedi

    • “I want an old-film look”, “a bit warmer”, “make the sound clearer”: describe colour, effects and sound in words; Wedi applies the recipe and leaves an “Undo”.
    • Under the answer you get “Warmer” and “Less warm” chips to nudge what you described half a step either way.
    • Workflows like “clean up the talking video”: clear voice, cut silences, subtitles; each step with its own preview, on your approval.
    • Smart tools has “Suggest short clips”: it reads a long talk's subtitles and lists short, self-contained stretches with the reasons; play one, add markers or set the range. No AI model, it runs on your computer.
    • Wedi also says what it can't do (“pick the best part”, “remove the watermark”) and suggests what it can do instead. All of it runs on your computer.
  6. Wedi settings and polish

    • Wedi sections in Settings: opening the island on click or hover, when it closes, where it eats what you delete, the “Shall I put it back?” question, dancing to music, blinking and the edge light.
    • The cut, converter, compress and settings windows use the new card layout; native checkboxes and sliders follow the theme.
    • Auto draft drops dark and blurry parts; it has an entry in Smart tools and on the start screen.
    • A progress bar shows while a project package is made or opened; packages over 4 GB open too.
    • A flash effect looks the same when an export starts in the middle of a clip.
    • Your own templates: right-click a project on the start screen and pick “Save as template” (no need to open it); when an export ends, use “Make this a template” on Wedi, or tell Wedi “make this a template”. In My templates you can rename and re-categorise, and hand a template to someone as a .weditratpl file or import one; the file holds none of your media.
    • In Suggest short clips, “Copy to a new project” turns the stretch you picked into its own project: the clips start from zero and the long project stays as it was.
    • A new “Three colours” subtitle style: each spoken word lights yellow, pink and blue in turn; the preview and the export show the same picture.
    • Settings has a small live Wedi beside its Wedi sections: flip a switch and you see how it behaves at once; it stays still when motion is reduced.
    • You can describe text to Wedi too: “make the subtitles big and yellow”, “add an outline and shadow to the title”, “make the text uppercase”; size, colour, weight, italic, outline, shadow, box and uppercase are set.
    • New recipes for Wedi: “phone sound”, “radio-like sound” and “muffled sound” for audio; “wedding”, “food”, “sports”, “night” and “summer vibes” for the picture.
    • Smooth slow motion: when you slow a clip, the switch in the Speed section makes up the frames in between from the motion (2× or 4× the frames); it runs on the processor and is slow. You can also tell Wedi “smooth slow motion” or “documentary style”.
    • Wedi bounces to the loudness of the music playing on the music page; if the page does not let its level be read, it keeps the steady beat as before. It can be turned off in Settings.
    • “Object / product” background removal now works in video too: it needs a graphics card and is slow; the estimated time is shown when you pick it.
    • 6 new templates (28 in all): Video essay, Steady talking head, Green-screen story, Documentary, Mobile cinema and Flat-lay; all from our own content, built on the 2026 short-video styles.
    • Text presets: “Three-colour kinetic” (white-to-pink with every second word in yellow, a fast sliding short-video caption) and “Essay lower third” (the calm serif lower third of video essays).
    • Motion panel: “Slow zoom in” and “Slow zoom out” give a calm, documentary-style move toward or away over the whole clip.
    • Motion panel: text and picture pulse or hop on the music's beat; with no beats in the project it says it runs at 120 BPM. You can tell Wedi “bounce to the music”.
    • The opening screen is new: the logo on a chip package whose pins light up as the app loads, and Wedi wakes up.
    • “Start from a template” on the start screen: pick one in the templates window and the project opens in the template's aspect ratio; the media slots stay empty for you to fill.
    • Suggest short clips has a “9:16 vertical copy” switch: one click copies the stretch into a vertical project; it follows the speaker when a face or person is detected, otherwise it crops from the middle.
    • In the Track tab, “Show finger skeleton” draws the hand’s 21 joints on the preview at the playhead; “Find hand gestures” finds poses such as thumbs up, fist and victory in the clip and adds a marker for each one you choose, as one undo step. All of it runs on your computer.
    • A quality menu in the preview bar: Full, High, Medium, Low, each with a line saying what it does. It only changes the preview, never the exported video. On first start it is picked for your computer.
    • “Platform view” in the preview (Guides menu): a see-through sketch of where the TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts interface covers the video, so you place text and captions around it. Preview only, never in the exported video.
  7. Wedi commands and voice

    • Type commands like “cut silences”, “half speed” or “export for YouTube” into the island's box: Wedi shows a suggestion chip and Enter runs it.
    • The microphone button listens until you stop it; speech is turned into text on your computer and goes nowhere. Wedi answers with beeps.
    • Every command runs at once and leaves an “Undo”; ask “where is this?” and he marks it on screen.
  8. Project package, browser, menus

    • Pack a project with its media and LUTs into one file and open it on another computer.
    • Open browser tabs show as thumbnail cards; the music card has tab chips; search defaults to Google.
    • New menu design: icon column, descriptions, shortcut badges; layout presets in the View menu.
  9. Wedi's island

    • The notch became a single island: a small pill when closed, and when open Wedi in the middle with your job's details on both sides.
    • Separate cards for export, subtitles, analysis and many jobs: percent, time left, steps, report.
    • The island glows green when done and red on an error; light runs along its edge while a job runs.
    • Drag media to Wedi to delete it: it shrinks as it nears, Wedi eats it, then asks “Shall I bring it back?”.
    • New moods: loved (click him), too many jobs (spiral eyes), stardust while idle.
  10. Wedi in the notch

    • The browser notch is now Wedi: sleeping eyes when closed, it wakes on hover and dances to music.
    • Export and long jobs live in Wedi: progress fills in the notch, its card gives the report when done.
    • Wedi eats deleted media and asks about restoring it.
    • The notch docks at an edge or becomes a free bubble.
  11. Background removal, auto-draft, beat sync

    • Remove the background by picking person, close-up or object; on video and photos, with a transparent result.
    • A first cut from media and music in one click: 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9.
    • Finds the music's beats and lines clips up to the rhythm.
  12. Filler words and subtitles

    • Remove filler sounds like “umm, uh” from the video in one click; subtitles shift along.
    • Subtitles flag words they aren't sure about.
    • An export target: Reels · TikTok · Shorts, YouTube, WhatsApp.
  13. New design

    • 6 themes and an icon style option.
    • A responsive editor that works comfortably in small windows.
  14. New name: Weditra

    • The app and project files took the Weditra name; old projects are recognized when opened.

Planned

This list may change; order and scope settle during development.

  1. Object / product background removal in video

    • It exists for photos today; for video it will come with graphics-card acceleration.
  2. More

    • More template variety.
    • On-device resolution upscaling and frame interpolation.
